Mazda is a name we are all synonymous with. The manufacturer has been a long-time presence in the automotive industry and has given us great cars. One of the best compact cars it has produced has been the Mazda 3.
And the new iteration of the Mazda 3 Hatchback 2020 is a great car you should know about. You can also get the Mazda 3 as a sedan even. It has been refined and the driving manners of the model have been sophisticated. This makes the model a fine alternative to its contemporaries like the Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla.
The four-cylinder engine ensures amazing economy on both urban and highway roads while maintaining full driver engagement. Now while Mazda 3 does not have a high-performance trim like a Gordon Murray T 50 super car, but the simple Mazda 3 hatchback offers great agility when in curves and is comfortable when the road is bumpy.
On top of that nice interiors and a great infotainment system make the car one of the best hatchbacks in the market. If you are looking to get a compact car then you should really consider a Mazda 3. Here in the following passages, we will explain why.

The New Mazda 3 2020 Hatchback
What Mazda did with this model is exceptional. While its previous models did not come with the standard driver-assistance features like its contemporaries this time it made sure every Mazda 3 has them. This is something its competitors only offer in high-performance trims.
Every Mazda 3 is fitted with its i-Activsense suite. This means the Mazda 3 2020 hatchback will come equipped with adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, automatic high-beams, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist.
Mazda 3 Hatchback 2020 Price
So the base price for the Mazda 3 is set at 22,420 dollars. And you can even get the premium trim which comes with a stick-shift transmission. While it is a bit bulbous at the back but it still looks amazing and is one of the best hatchbacks in the market.
Remember, if you are looking to get the manual gearbox version then it will cost a bit extra. The top-of-the-line trim will set you back 28,420 dollars. You can also get other add-ons to make your Mazda 3 even more amazing. You can add things like Bose audio system, heated front seats, power-adjustable driver's seat, SiriusXM satellite radio, and much more.
New Mazda 3 Specs, Configurations & Performance
Mazda 3 models come with a 2.5-liter engine that produces about 186 horsepower which is great for a hatchback. You can only get the manual gear on the hatchbacks. But you can get the Mazda 3 AWD and automatic versions on sedans as well.
And yes there is a Mazda 3 AWD Hatchback in the 2020 model, don’t worry. Now, remember, the standard version comes with the front-wheel-drive so make sure you specify what you want to your dealer. Now Mazda has said that eventually, it plans on introducing the Skyactiv-X four-cylinder engine.
This engine has compression ignition technology. This will make the Mazda 3 be very economical on the road. Now, remember this is only a hatchback and there are no performance-oriented versions of the Mazda 3.
So while the gas pedal responds well when hit it isn’t what you would call real quick. Instead of focusing on speed the Mazda focused on making the car comfortable and more stable. The ride quality of the Mazda 3 is exceptional.
It performs amicably on both straight and twisty road and you are most definitely going to have a comfy ride when you ride one. One of the best things Mazda has done in this model is that they have retained the fun-to-drive aspect of the previous models.
Mazda 3 has tight body control, natural-feeling steering, and a firm ride making you feel at ease when you drive the car. Even rough roads you will have a smooth ride.
Mazda 3 Hatchback 2020 MPG & Fuel Economy
The 2020 Mazda 3 hatchback is not what you would call the most fuel-efficient compact car. While some of it’s contemporaries offering EPA-rated 40 mpg on the highway it falls behind on that aspect. However, the real-life MPG of the Mazda 3 exceeds expectations.
The front-drive version is rated to having 27 mpg city and 36 mpg on the highway. While the AWD falls behind at 24 mpg in the city and 32 on the highway. However, there have been multiple instances by testers where the Mazda 3 provided better MPG than stated.
The 2020 Mazda 3 Interior
The 2020 Mazda 3 interior has been carefully designed to look great. The interior is thoughtful and comes with premium materials. The body styles of the 2020 Mazda 3 can be fitted with a host of different features that are amazing.
However, as you can guess you can get the best features outfitted with the top-end trims. Things like head-up display, heated front seats, and leather upholstery are all installed in the top-level trims of the model. But don’t worry the regular version is great.
It has supportive seats and comfortable passenger accommodations. Now the five-door model is considered to have the worst visibility of in hatchbacks but it makes up for it through its driver assistance systems.
While the sedan does have a little more space in the back than the hatchback they both hold the same amount of bags when the back seat is folded. The Mazda 3 hatchback comes equipped with an 8.8-inch infotainment display which looks bigger than it is due to the nicely designed bezel which sits between two pillowlike dash pads.
The system comes with a console-mounted rotary knob which you can use to control the infotainment system. If you want your Mazda 3 to have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto options then you would have to choose a pricier trim than the base one.
The 2020 Mazda 3 Safety and Driver-Assistance
Now, this is something that Mazda 3 excels at. It got a five-star crash-test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). On top of that, it was rated as the top safety pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety which is saying something.
All the models have a host of different safety and driver-assistance tech installed. You will find automated emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, standard adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go technology, standard lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist as well.
It also comes equipped with a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert. It’s warranties and maintenance coverage is lacking a little though. It only offers a limited warranty that covers 3 years or 36,000 miles. And the powertrain warranty covers 5 years or 60,000 miles without any complimentary scheduled maintenance.
