So far 2019 has been a great year for cars. Manufacturers from all over the world have unveiled their updates on existing models and new concepts that will be taking forward. Car companies take to the stage to unveil these plans over the year in the auto shows that are scheduled throughout the year.
One of the biggest auto shows of the year is the New York Auto Show. This year it was held in the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center like every year from April 19 to April 28. Car manufacturers came out in droves with their best reveals for this year’s edition.
This year the New York Auto Show had all the latest cars, trucks, SUVs, and vans that could fit into the center. With so many great cars around it was a tough task to find the best entries in this year’s show. So you may be wondering what were the best cars in this year's NY auto show? Well, the following are my top picks from this year’s edition.
The Q3 was a big hit and showed strong numbers throughout the year. The last installment of the Q3 was such a big hit that it had demands even after 4 years of being on sale. This new edition is poised to do better. It comes equipped with a state of the art 228-hp turbocharged inline-four and standard all-wheel-drive.
What sets this Q3 apart is the design. It has a unique complex sporty design that hugs the 3 dimensions tightly and creates a mesmerizing look. The design elements are unique to this year’s Q3 and I don’t remember seeing them in any other Audi crossovers. The exterior isn’t lacking though it carries the same panache as the Q8 and E-Tron.
I remember when I was 5 I saw a Caddy and instantly fell in love. Nowadays sedans are a dying breed. However, GM’s Cadillac did not give up on the car I love. The CT5 is living proof that sedans can still look classy. Cadillac did not spare the style sauce for this model. It just looks amazing.
With features like the beaver-tail fastback rear and a front that looks like a squinty-eyed hungry shark, the CT5 is intimidatingly beautiful. This new Caddy is not all about looks it has a healthy dosage of technology implemented as well. It has a new SuperCruise semi-autonomous driving system that just feels out of this world.
The only thing that the world is waiting for is to see how its handling capabilities are compared to the CTS. With the CT5 Cadillac is targeting the customers who prefer the low-slung style over high-riding capability. The CT5 is certain to make waves with its subsequent release looming.
Genesis Mint Concept
Well, the common concept with luxury cars and most things is “bigger is always better”. However, the new Genesis Mint Concept challenges the norm with a smaller compact all-electric car for urban areas.
Ironically it was showcased in the NY auto show this year which is the poster child for urban areas. With its slick designs and minimalist inspirations along with its spec details revealed Genesis hopes it will give other cars in the category a run for their money. The interior design is another fine aspect of the car with an extra-luxurious interior design.
This car takes all the good features from the GLS like its handsome upright exterior; a stylish, luxurious interior; the advanced MBUX voice command system and elevates it. With the GLS class, the EQ Boost 48-volt mild hybrid setup makes its first debut in the automotive world.
This car has the Benz’s twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 which turns out a combined 483 hp and 516 pound-feet. It has been marketed as an S-class SUV and it lives up to it with ample space within for your family and friends. Sometimes tall people have a hard time fitting in the second and third rows. Well, that’s not the case with this model.
It can easily accommodate tall people in the back. The Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class is one of the best models unveiled in the NY car show this year because of these reasons.
Porsche 911 Speedster
If you put in any droptop 911GT3 in an auto show it is guaranteed to be one of the best cars there. That’s how good the car is. However, the new 911 Speedster is anything but ordinary. It is a limited edition model with a timeless silhouette and a six-speed manual gearbox. It has a six-speed manual gearbox along with a high-revving naturally aspirated flat-six by the rear axle.
Along with the regular 275750 dollar base price you can get Heritage Design Package that adds vintage-inspired trim details for just 24,510 dollars additional. The 911 Speedster took the NY auto show by storm and became one of the best cars in the NY auto show.
This new Sonata looks more like a concept car than an upcoming model. It might look like a concept car but trust me you will see it on the roads in 2020. Hyundai’s unveiling of the Sonata in the NY auto show marked the unveiling of its boldest design in recent years. It has been a long time since any Hyundai design was this dynamic.
On top of that Hyundai will offer a topline model from the N-line division. This model is supposed to put out more than 275 horsepower. Making the new Sonata a beast in its class. The Sonata maybe the car that brings the sedan back from the dead.
In recent years Lincoln has been establishing itself as “America’s Luxury Brand”. They have revamped a lot of their models with amazing designs. They started with the Navigator, then the Aviator and Nautilus and finally came to the Corsair.
Design and passenger experience has become a recent market trend for consumers and Lincoln have taken notice of that. Their recent models including the Corsair cater to those demands. They have stolen a march on its competitors like Cadillac in this regard.
So there you go these are our choices for the best cars at NY auto show. There were so many to choose from. Some honorable mentions from this year’s show were the Koenigsegg Jesko, Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic, Subaru Outback.
