An Overview Of The 2020 Volvo XC90
The 2020 Volvo XC90 is one of the best selling cars in the market today. This is because the Swedish manufacturer went to great lengths to ensure quality. One of the reasons it was so well received by the automotive community is because of the car’s configurations.
The car is powered by three different four-cylinder powertrains, including a plug-in hybrid making the configurations of the Volvo XC90 one of the best options in the luxury SUV market. You can also get a 6-7 seater configuration for this 2020 model as well.
The Scandinavian manufacturer made sure that the interior is fitted with luxury as well. Within the XC90 you will find Nappa leather, real wood trim, and magnificent chrome accents. There is a vertically oriented infotainment touchscreen that will allow you to control almost every system within the car.
Along with that, you will find a driver-facing 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. And the XC90 like all luxury SUVs have taken great care in installing driver safety measures within the model and all systems were made to be industry-standard as well.
Volvo made sure that with the XC90 they produce a car so well-rounded that it looks like its the perfect car to consumers. So the base price for the Volvo XC90 2020 is around 49345 dollars. Now there are two different models you can get as well.
The R-design comes in around 57095 dollars and the Inscription is priced at around 63595 dollars. Now considering the upgrades available for us the best option is the Inscription. It comes with a T-6 engine with 316 horsepower.
It comes dressed in special Inscription trim and has a supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder. Now, what makes it a true luxury SUV is the fact that the interior of the XC90 is amazing. On the Inscription model, you will find ventilated front seats, lane-keeping assist, a Harman/Kardon audio system, and 20-inch wheels. Along with that, the exterior of the car is amazing with a statelier exterior design.
Volvo XC90 Specs & Performance
So all 3 versions of the XC90 is based on the 2.0-liter turbo-four. The base model features a turbocharged T5 engine that produces 250hp and is a front-wheel-drive version. The T6 version is a supercharger that produces 316hp.
The supercharger comes optional with the base Momentum model but it is standard with the Inscription model. This engine is only paired with the AWD(All Wheel Drive) systems. You can also get an XC90 hybrid. This behemoth produces 400hp and has a T6 powertrain and adds two electric motors and a charging port on the exterior.
You can also get an optional air suspension that provides extra comfort. It also gives you two different driving modes the Off-Road and Dynamic drive modes along with customizable suspension settings.
The suspensions work perfectly and can handle almost all road situations and will ensure that you have a pleasant, insulated ride. In terms of range and battery, the XC90 should be even better than the last version but the numbers aren’t here yet.
The 2019 XC90 had a smaller battery pack and provided 17 miles of electric-only range. Volvo says that this year’s hybrid will crush the numbers of the previous version and will stand out amongst its competition.
In terms of fuel economy, we are yet to know the real numbers but if we look at numbers from previous models and correlate it to the upgrades this year’s model then things look promising. If you are looking at the EPA ratings then the XC90 performs as good as its V-6 competitors. And now that it has a much larger battery pack we expect it to kill last year’s numbers.
Volvo 2020 XC90 Interior
As far as medium-sized luxury SUVs go the XC90 is a masterpiece. Not only does it have a great design but it also has quality running through its interior. Along with that, you will find it suspiciously spacious which is more than what we can say for many of its competitors.
Now the third row is a bit hard to squeeze into but children can easily get in. But overall it doesn’t lag behind any of its competitors. It even excels in cargo-hauling space. The wide boxy designs mean you can fit a lot of things in the back without hassle.
Moving to the infotainment and connectivity. You will see that the XC90 has 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment that has intuitive features and allows you to control almost all systems within the car.
Now you also have the option to get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability; a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot as well. The 2020 Volvo XC90 is one of the best SUVs around in terms of safety.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety selected the XC90 as a Top Safety Pick back in 2019. Consequently, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the luxury SUV a 5-star rating.
Volvo has always been considered as a leader in providing cars with amazing driver safety and the XC90 is no exception. The standard for the XC90 in driver safety and assistance technology are forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking and blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
It also comes with a standard lane-departure warning system. So the warranties are nothing impressive and are good enough for the XC90. But where it does shine is the complimentary scheduled maintenance.
The car comes with a limited warranty covers 4 years or 50,000 miles and the warranty for the powertrain is the same as well. The hybrid components get a bit better treatment with 8 years or 100000 miles.
Now for the scheduled maintenance, Volvo is offering XC90 owners 3 years or 36,000 miles and that is what some of its competitors don’t offer.
